About the Event
When quilters think of “improv” the first idea that come to mind is a random, fluid plan with little controlled design. Freedom of expression is basic to the designing process. This class does some of that but goes a step further by adding a measure of structure to the arrangement of the pieces. The overall design does not rely on individual blocks but rather to random strips of fabric cut in both length and width with some specific units added for highlights. The piecing is mostly straight strips with the addition of smaller units which require some precision of piecing for fit. A kit of batik is provided which contains all fabric for top and binding to finish at an approximate 30”x42” size. Cost of kit is $25.
Sewing Machines, rotary cutters, mats and thread are provided in the class. However, if you have favorite sewing notions, such as, thread snips, etc., you can bring them along but not required.
