About the Event

The “Love Your Featherweight” class will enable the owner of a vintage Singer Featherweight Sewing machine to have confidence when cleaning and maintaining their machine to keep it running well. We will discuss FW history, oiling and maintenance required to keep the machines in top working order. *THIS CLASS IS HANDS-ON- PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN FEATHERWEIGHT*** You will work directly on your own featherweight so that when you leave class it will be clean and tuned!

Please Register to purchase your ticket. Cost of the ticket includes a $40 value maintenance kit.

If you know of anyone else who might be interested, please let them know that we are offering this class twice at the Lancaster Quilt Show. Seats are limited.

Supply List:

A fully functioning Singer 221 Sewing Machine, power cord, bobbin case and case (if the machine needs work, please call Kathy before the class to make a repair appointment)

If it is raining the day of the class, put a plastic bag upside down over the top of the case and carry it by the handle with the bag on top and the hole in the bottom to protect your precious case.

Bring an old towel to put under the machine while you work on it.

Small rags to use for cleaning the machine and your hands. A few paper towels might be a good idea.

I will provide sewing machine oil and lubricant as part of your class fee so you don’t have to bring yours unless you want to.

Thread and a full bobbin (light colored thread is best)

Snips to cut the thread

Needle threader if you need one

8 to 10 pieces of practice fabric (plain color, white or muslin work well) 4x4 or a little bigger. We will use these to test tension and your stitch.

Tiny screw driver (to adjust tension)

Regular sized straight screwdriver for removing the needle plate (A longer screwdriver that fits into the slot of the needle plate screw if you have one. I have some to share)

The user manual/book that came with your machine if you have one.

Paper and pencil if you would like to take notes

You may want to bring a drink in a spill proof container and maybe a small snack to ward off the “Hangry” feeling that we get when we have to think! I don’t mind people eating during the class.

I have many accessories for sale. You could stop in the booth at the show prior to the class to see what all we have for sale. I have books, oil, lubricant, needles, bobbins, LED bulbs, power cords, ¼” feet, and other parts and accessories. The preferred method of payment is cash or checks but I do take credit cards for purchases over $25.00. I look forward to meeting you and for the opportunity to share my Love of Featherweight machines with you.
